What's this about?

CooperHacks is a 48-hour-long event where students from even the opposite side of the world come together and work together to design and build innovative technology projects. After 6 years of hiatus, CooperHacks will take place on the weekend of Welcome Students Day from August 31 to September 1. Participants will have the opportunity to build, learn, and create technological applications from scratch that can help benefit university experience. We offer workshops from sponsors, personalized mentorship, and fun mini-events to allow hackers to take a break from coding. Stay updated with our hackathon logistics by cooperhacks@cooper.edu.

Who's gonna be there?

  • Mike Giglia

Mike Giglia is an Adjunct Instructor and an EE/ME Lab Tech here at Cooper! He will be one of our workshop hosts as well as a judge for CooperHacks this year. His workshop topic is slated to be an intro to Systems Thinking (DSRP) for engineers.

  • Chris Curro

Chris Curro is the Principal Machine Learning Engineer at The Estée Lauder Companies Inc, as well as an Adjunct Professor here at the Cooper Union! He will be one of our workshop hosts as well as a judge for CooperHacks this year, and according to him:

    1. We'll code up some kind of web application in Python using FastAPI

    2. It'll be connected to a Redis instance I stand up, perhaps with a Bloom Filter, because those are just kind of neat.

    3. I'll expose it to the public internet with ngrok, and have students hit the API live from their machine

  • Subhalekha Udayasankar

Subhalekha Udayasankar is an Adjunct Instructor here at the Cooper Union, and she will be a judge for CooperHacks this year, bringing with her an interest for human-centered design and an extensive consulting history.

  • Stay Tuned! More to come...
